The Dusseldorfer Burger (“Düsselburger”)
The classic Dusseldorfer burger recipe, or "Düsselburger" how it is called in the Rhineland
Ingredients
- 8 Potato pancakes
- 8 slices of black pudding or Pannas (sliced into the same thickness as the potato pancakes)
- 8 slices of bacon
- 2 medium onions, sliced into rings
- Some stewed beet and cabbage
- Some fresh marjoram
- Some vegetable oil for frying
Preparation
- Dry the bacon using a paper towel and fry until crispy.
- Remove the bacon and using the same pan, fry the onion rings until brown.
- Sprinkle the black pudding or Pannas with flour and fry in plenty of vegetable oil.
- Fry the potato pancakes.
Serving suggestion
- Place one of the potato pancakes on a plate and top with the black pudding or Pannas.
- Add some beet cabbage between the two slices of Pannas and then top with the second potato pancake.
- Place the crispy bacon and onion rings on top of the 'Dusseldorfer Burger' and serve immediately.
