Münsterland sausage-roll
Straight from the heart of Westphalia - The Sausage roll recipe
Ingredients
- 250g puff pastry
- 500g lean minced pork
- 2 finely chopped onions
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper
Preparation
- Add the onion and freshly ground pepper to the minced pork and mix well.
- Roll out the puff pastry, until it is as thin as possible, but you can still work with it. Cut into 10 x 20cm pieces.
- Add some water to the egg and beat. Brush the puff pastry pieces with the egg and water mix.
- Place a spoonful of mince (approximately 40-50g) in the centre of each piece of puff pastry and roll, sealing on every side by pressing the pastry together. Place on a greased baking tray and place in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 20-25 minutes.
Serving suggestion
