Münsterland sausage-roll

Straight from the heart of Westphalia - The Sausage roll recipe

Ingredients

  • 250g puff pastry
  • 500g lean minced pork
  • 2 finely chopped onions
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Add the onion and freshly ground pepper to the minced pork and mix well.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry, until it is as thin as possible, but you can still work with it. Cut into 10 x 20cm pieces.
  3. Add some water to the egg and beat. Brush the puff pastry pieces with the egg and water mix.
  4. Place a spoonful of mince (approximately 40-50g) in the centre of each piece of puff pastry and roll, sealing on every side by pressing the pastry together. Place on a greased baking tray and place in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 20-25 minutes.

Serving suggestion

Serve warm on a plate with mustard or sweet and sour sauce.
